Prevention in the Community

Dear RSU 21 Community,

Welcome to the new site dedicated to preventing underage use of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs.  This topic can be a difficult topic for people in all communities.  There is no easy answer for preventing youth from using alcohol, tobacco, and drugs.  Our intent in starting this web site is to create more comfort in communicating about these topics among adults with adults, among youth with youth and among youth with adults.  This issue affects every member of every community at some level.  The towns served by RSU 21 are not different than other towns in Maine, the US, or the world when it comes to being affected by substance use and abuse.  Hopefully, this community will be able to start dialogues that help it address this issue in more proactive and effective ways.

We will provide information, education, and tips on these topics.  We will provide links where you can find more information and resources.  Hopefully you will find this information helpful to you and those close to you.  Hopefully you will find ways to take this information and apply it to your lives in meaningful and helpful ways.

Please send questions and feedback to us.  We are always open to hear your opinions and how this information is or is not useful to you.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Best Regards,

Sarah Ibbotson, Prevention Coordinator
