Welcome
to Maine RSU21 and the schools of Arundel, Kennebunk, and Kennebunkport.
The three communities and six schools that comprise our district have a
longstanding tradition of excellence, and I am looking forward to the
challenges that await us as we form one, new district in 2009-2010.
As stated elsewhere
on our website, our district mission is to prepare all learners with the
academic knowledge and personal skills needed to be responsible,
contributing citizens in a global society. To do that, we employ some
of the finest teachers and administrators in New England; they are the
difference-makers in our students’ academic performance, and we are
extremely proud of the work they do with our children. Our support
staff, including employees in transportation, food service, technology,
maintenance, custodial services, and the financial office work
diligently to take care of many logistical concerns, allowing teachers
to teach and students to learn with minimal interruptions.
RSU 21 is blessed
with many supportive families who value education and understand the
need for rigorous and relevant curriculum and programming. Through
their support, our schools continue to look forward, living a vision
that will prepare our students for citizenship far beyond the borders of
RSU 21. On July 2, 2009, the Middle School of the Kennebunks received
word that it had achieved accreditation as a full-fledged International
Baccalaureate school -- the only middle school in Maine to have earned
this distinction. Kennebunk High School, also a World IB school, is one
of only two Maine high schools accredited by IB. To have earned this
distinction has taken a great deal of work by a great number of people,
and RSU 21 is extremely proud to be providing its students with such
wonderful opportunities.
Of course, the
stars of our district are our students. Over the course of the
2009-2010 school year, we hope to be sharing news of their many
accomplishments here on our website as well as with local press
agencies. I encourage you to be on the lookout for these postings so
that you can stay well informed of the many successes of RSU 21.
If you have any
questions or concerns about our schools, please contact me at

Sincerely,
Andrew R. Dolloff
Superintendent of Schools
