The employees of
the Transportation Department are some of the most important people in the
district. Not only do they strive for safely delivering students to and from
school, they are the first and the last to see most of our students each day.
Our entire staff is excited about each school year and looks forward to
serving the students in RSU 21 each day.
The Transportation Department currently has 49 staff members including bus
drivers, aides, mechanics and office personnel. Last year, 2009-2010, we drove
approximately 541,987 miles covering athletic, field trips and daily routes.
There are 96 bus routes posted for this year, consisting of 24 Grades 6-12 AM,
24 Grades 6-12 PM, 24 Grades K-5 AM and 24 Grades K-5 PM.
Special Needs Bus Routes are not posted (contact the transportation department
with questions).
Late start Wednesday bus routes are not posted, as the bus routes are the same
as the regular day route, the only difference being the time of student pick
up, which is approximately 1:45 to 1:50 minutes later than regular pick up
times.
After 32 years in education (teacher, coach, assistant principal, and
principal), I am pleased to be starting a new position in Kennebunk. With the
usual nervous anticipation of a new job and a new school year, I am looking
forward to meeting new children, parents, and staff as we all work together to
make a smooth and enjoyable school year in the Transportation department.
