Adult Education Information

STORM CANCELLATIONS Messages about class cancellations will be on the adult education answering machine at 985-1116 and broadcast on Channel 6 Alive Storm Center, Channel 8, Channel 13, and on WIDE 1400 AM. If the schools are closed during the day because of the weather, all Adult Education classes and appointments will automatically be cancelled.

PARKING AND ENTRANCE We encourage students to use the parking spaces in front of the high school for easy access to Adult Education entrance Door 3. Parking is also available behind the high school, however, the only Adult Education entrance is through Door 3 in the front of the building. Please do not park in driveways or in "NO PARKING" areas to leave space for emergency equipment. We are asking all our students to pay special attention to parking in legal spots while here at class. Please remember our campus is smoke free!

COURSE FEES Course fees are due at the time of registration. Some of our course offerings are FREE as a public service. Registration for free courses may be made by telephone or email. Please be sure to register early for these free sessions. Registration for free classes is absolutely essential. Classes with insufficient enrollment will be cancelled.

SCHOLARSHIP HELP AVAILABLE A fund to help adult education students who would benefit from financial assistance has been established through the goodwill donation of a Kennebunk citizen. Application forms for students in need of financial aid to take adult education courses are available in the adult education office. CALL 985-1116 for more information.

LIFE-LONG LEARNER DISCOUNTS Citizens age 65 and older are eligible for a 10% course fee discount rate. This does not apply to the fee for courses that include supplies in their total figure or that are priced with seniors in mind. Request this discount at the time of course registration.

REFUND POLICY Refunds are available to students who cancel course registration prior to the day of the first class – less a $5.00 processing fee; credit will be issued otherwise. It may take 3 – 4 weeks to process refunds. Materials purchased by students for a course that is cancelled are not refundable. Classes that do not reach minimum enrollment will be cancelled. Be sure to check to see the status of a class before purchasing course materials.

WHY WAS MY CLASS CANCELLED? Sometimes a great class gets cancelled because people wait to register until the last minute. Sign up early. In order for an enrichment class to run, a minimum number of paid students need to be registered. Registration monies cover costs of teachers’ salaries and administrative costs. Sign up early and help us keep the classes running. Courses with insufficient enrollment will be cancelled. Participants will be notified; and fees will be refunded.

WAITING LIST If a course is full when registration is received, students’ names will automatically be placed on course waiting lists.

COURSE CONFIRMATION The Adult Education office does not provide written confirmation of class enrollment. Please feel free to call us at any time to check course status. We are happy to assist you.

AFFIRMATIVE ACTION RSU 21 provides equal educational and employment opportunities regardless of race, religion, sex, national origin or citizenship status, age, or handicap. Please notify us at time of registration if you require assistance in gaining access to the building. Call 985-1116 for needed accommodations.
