KES Newsletter - November 30, 2017

Hello KES families,

I hope you are well! It is hard to believe that tomorrow is the first day of December. At our Friday Morning Meeting tomorrow we will be introducing Kindness as our Character Trait for December. We have a team of teachers and administrators from the Sanford School system joining us for our assembly tomorrow, and then again on Friday January 5th to observe how we maximize positive character traits and positive student engagement  during our weekly assemblies. The Sanford Team will be meeting with several KES staff members following the assembly to talk about how we Restorative Practices and positive behavioral interventions in the classrooms and throughout the building. Additionally, Kindness Youth Speaker Rob Duquette, will be with us for our Assembly on December 8th, so please join us if you can, and please help us promote Kindness by recognizing and complimenting your child for kind caring acts this month.

KEPTA members asked me to remind you to connect to your Amazon account to Amazon Smile. Amazon Smile will donate a portion of ALL your purchases to KEPTA, and it won't cost you anything extra! You must make sure you log into Amazon smile though. You can do this by going to smile.amazon.com and selecting "Kennebunk Elementary PTA." Once KEPTA is selected, a portion of your purchase will be donated everytime you shop through smile.amazon.com, and you won't have to keep selecting KEPTA. This process takes 30 seconds and then you are done. The smile site is EXACTLY the same as the Amazon site. Its easy and fast and its basically free money! Thank you so much for your support.

I also wanted to let you know that the Kennebunk High School Music Department is gearing up for their first concert in the new theater at the high school.  At 7PM on Dec. 11, the KHS Band, Choir, and Kenne-funk Jazz Band will perform an evening of exciting music and holiday classics in their winter program entitled "Stars I Shall Find."  The concert is free and open to the public.  A cookie and cocoa reception will conclude the evening in the KHS cafeteria.

And finally, just a couple December reminders…..December 7th is picture retake day, December 21st is a half day, and there is no school on the 22nd.

If you haven’t seen the front page article in this weeks York County Coast Star on the Youth Ambassadors Award KES received from Wreaths Across America, please check out the seacoast online version, and have a great weekend!

Yours in Education,

Mr. Quinn
