KES Newsletter - February 9, 2018

Hello KES Families,

I hope you are well! I had already written my newsletter last week when our 3rd grade Biome presentations began, but I just want to take a moment to thank the 3rd grade parents for such a great parent turn-out. Our 3rd graders worked very hard on these projects and we are always proud to have parents come see the fruits of their labor.

Official registration is now open for RSU 21 Public Pre K. We are excited that so many people have shown interest in our new, public Pre K program. Now is the time to officially register your child using this link. Accurate numbers are now critical as we will use the information to hire teachers, furnish classrooms, establish bus routes, and communicate with parents. As a reminder, this is a full day, full week, program with the option to pick your child up after lunch if needed. It will be free of charge, play-based, aligned with the RSU 21 curriculum, and developmentally appropriate for children turning 4 by October 15th. The Pre K is open to children from all three towns and will be housed here at KES. We are very excited for this wonderful opportunity...and we hope you are too!

Just a reminder that next Friday Jump Rope for Heart will replace our regular Friday Morning Meeting. Last year KES was one of the top 10 Jump Rope for Heart fundraisers in the state of Maine, so please help us help the American Heart Association by getting those pledge envelopes in by next Friday.

The KES Wellness Team is currently planning the ninth annual KES Wellness Fair and we are in need of volunteers. The event will take place on the morning of Wednesday March 7th from 9:00am to 10:40. There will be a number of events including grade level workshops and healthy snacks. If you would like to volunteer, or if you have expertise in the area of wellness, medicine, fitness or nutrition and would like to offer a presentation, please fill out the attached form attached below. We would love to have your help!

And finally, we hope to see you at KEPTA’s winter social on Friday,  February 9th from 4-6pm at Sea Road School. Here is some information regarding the social that you may find helpful:

The raffle drawing is held at 5:45pm. This means that ticket sales stop PROMPTLY at 5:40pm! Please remember you DO NOT need to be present to win. Winning names/#’s will be  posted on the KEPTA Facebook page and emailed to membership sometime on Saturday, following the social. This information as well as claiming instructions will also be sent out in the KES and SRS weekly communication the week following the social. The raffles will be drawn at 5:45pm. This means that ticket sales will end promptly at 5:40pm.

Animal Show:
Tickets are $3 each. Please remember that everyone will need a ticket to attend the animal show (this includes all adults.) The first show is always the BEST because there are many less people! Show times will be as follows (shows are 20 minutes each):

Cup Stacking:
One of the SRS students will be collecting food for St. Martha’s at this event. Students interested in having their turn at cup stacking should bring a food donation for St. Martha’s!  Please support this wonderful cause!

Other Activities:
There will be plenty to do! Food, free hot cocoa, a creative activity in the art room, cup stacking, the popular animal show, basketball activities in the gym, and the popular 50 cent raffles!! So much fun!!

Baked Goods:
We are still in need of baked good donations!  Here is the Sign Up Genius if you can help!

We are also in need of volunteers. Here is the Sign Up Genius if you have time to donate!

We have such a generous community.  Look at this list of sponsors!  Please consider supporting these businesses & families and taking a moment to thank them for supporting our schools.   We are still looking to add more raffle items, so if you would like to donate, email Special thanks in advance to the following generous sponsors:
