Adult Education Offers Help for Those Working Toward Citizenship

The Constitution and laws of the United States give many rights to both citizens and non-citizens living here; however some rights are only for U.S. Citizens.

Some of the benefits given only to United States citizens include: Voting, bringing family member to the U.S., being eligible for federal jobs or being an elected official.

The Test - People who wish to apply for citizenship are required to take the Naturalization Test. The test consists of a written and oral portion and covers English and Civics, (U.S. History and government). Test takes prepare for 100 questions and on test day they are given 10. It can be quite daunting learning a new language and studying subjects like U.S. History and government which may be unfamiliar territory.

Adult Education can help! Beginning on Monday, October 19th, Adult Education of the Kennebunks and Arundel will hold a 12-week Citizenship Prep course. The classes will help students in all areas of the naturalization test, so you feel more confident and well prepared, building skills and gaining confidence.
