Dear RSU 21 Families & Staff,
Due to widespread complications involving power outages and unplowed roads from the snowstorm on Monday, January 23, RSU 21 Schools will be closed on Tuesday, January 24.
Utility officials and law enforcement agencies do not anticipate that power will be restored to the community by the opening of school tomorrow morning and some school buildings are anticipated to not have essential functions operational.
Please note the following:

School will be closed for students, staff and central office personnel.

Mechanics and facility staff are to report to their designated work locations. If it is not safe to travel, contact your immediate supervisor.

All school activities including athletics are canceled for Tuesday, January 24, 2023.
The accumulation of ice, downed trees, uncleared roads and sidewalks, and widespread power outages were all factors in this decision to close school. This decision was made after consulting with town officials, local law enforcement and utility officials, as well as RSU 21’s transportation personnel, who have all reported various challenges involving loss of power and roads that remained unplowed.
Thank you for your understanding and flexibility. We all want to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
We will update you on Tuesday about school operations. Please keep your families safe. Those in need of shelter should know that Kennebunk High School is providing this service for the community.
