Bio:
Matt is a journalist by trade and a producer by passion. A native Mainer, Matt grew up in
Freeport and received his B.A. in journalism at the University of Maine.
After graduating, Matt eventually landed a full-time job as a radio news anchor, DJ, and
commercial producer. In fact, Matt has interned or worked at nearly every radio station in the
Portland market.
A few years later, Matt transitioned out of radio to TV news at WMTW News 8, first as a
weekend evening producer. He was quickly promoted to executive producer, eventually
overseeing the station’s 4 p.m., 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. shows. Matt was honored with an Edward R.
Murrow Award for producing the station’s special program about the 20th anniversary of the
1998 ice storm.
Matt left WMTW in 2022 seeking a better work-life balance. He was a marketing manager for a
time at a local architecture firm before becoming a communications specialist at the University
of New England.
Matt came to RSU 21 in 2024 and is excited to bring his wealth of experience and knowledge of
southern Maine to this wonderful school district.
When he is not working, Matt loves spending time with his young daughter and wife at their home in Saco or on the road in their RV. You can easily distract him by talking
about music, food, or baseball.
