Student Chromebook Use

Acceptable Use Agreement

The Student Internet Use Policy is available here. The Internet is a worldwide group of hundreds of thousands of computer networks.  Regional School Unit # 21 does not control the content of these Internet networks. If a student violates the Student Internet Use Policy, his/her privilege to use the District Internet and Chromebook may be revoked and is subject to disciplinary action. The use of the Chromebook will require the student to use the RSU 21 provided Google Apps for Education account.

Acceptable Use Policies can be found at http://www.rsu21.net/it-services-documents

Terms of Agreement

The use of this device is a privilege, not a right. The student is responsible for the proper care and appropriate use of this device at all times. The device cannot be loaned, sold, bartered, traded, leased, rented or given to any other person or persons without the express, written consent of the school. The permission granted to the student ceases on the last calendar day of this current school year (unless terminated or extended by school administration) and failure to return the said device on or before that date to the principal or his designee could result in criminal charges being sought against the student and/or the person who has the Chromebook. RSU 21 reserves the right to demand the immediate return of the device at any time.

Damage and Repair Agreement

Once a RSU 21 Chromebook, charger, and case are assigned to a student, the parents or guardians assume financial responsibility for them. Financial assistance is available when appropriate and is needed. In such cases, please contact the building principal.

If upon investigation, the damage to the device is deemed malicious or intentional then a charge up to the replacement cost of the device may be issued. If the Chromebook assigned is lost, then the guardian is responsible for the cost of the replacement. In the event the device is stolen the device will be replaced concurrent with the filing of a police report. Every effort will be made to supply a spare device to students while the assigned device is being repaired or replaced.
