RSU 21 wants to hear from our students' parents and/or guardians. As part of our commitment to the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work we have begun, RSU 21 has engaged the Mid Atlantic Equity Consortium (MAEC) to complete an equity assessment.
MAEC and RSU 21 are collaboratively conducting the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion assessment to help understand the educational equity issues in our district. We want to learn about RSU 21 through your voice, and therefore, we look to you to help us identify and understand the factors that contribute to inequities inhibiting student achievement and social-emotional growth.
It is important to note that while our work with MAEC and the Department of Justice (DOJ) will dovetail, our work with MAEC is focused on the school district perspectives including students, staff, parents, curriculum, administrators. Whereas the DOJ SPIRIT session is focused on perspectives of all aspects of our 3 Town Community including (but not limited to) town employees, general community members, faith-based community members, and the school district.
Next week, staff from the Mid-Atlantic Equity Consortium will be conducting focus groups with several district stakeholders to understand their perspective of equity in our district. They will be holding two simultaneous parent focus groups.
These focus groups will take place:
Wednesday, May 29th
6:00pm - 7:30pm
Kennebunk Elementary School
If you are a parent or guardian of a student within RSU 21 and would like to participate, please complete this sign-up form.
As per MAEC's request, there is a limit of 15 participants per session. However, if there is substantial interest, we will schedule future sessions.
RSVP by Friday, May 24th.
