KES Newsletter March 29, 2019

Hello KES Families,

I hope you are well on this rainy day. Today is the last day to register your child for a Keith McClelland Audition. Those vocal and instrumental auditions will take place here at KES on Saturday, April 6th, between 10:00am and 2:00pm. Ten winners will receive $150.00 each toward music lessons.  If you would like to schedule your child for an audition, please reach out to Vickie Hamel today at

As part of the upcoming Kennebunk Free Library “Celebrating the Young Child” exhibition, the artwork of Pre-K students from KES will be showcased. The public is invited to view the exhibit at 112 Main St., Kennebunk, during regular library hours from April 8th to April 12th.  For library hours and information about other great library events, visit the Kennebunk Free Library website at

We had a wonderful Friday Morning Meeting today. Miss Wright and Officer Audra introduced “Citizenship” as the KES Character Trait for the month of April, so please look for ways to reinforce the concept of “Citizenship” with your child when you can.  We also had Gary Urey from the American Heart Association with us this morning. He joined us to recognize Mr. McCarthy for introducing the Kids Heart Challenge four years ago at KES, and he recognized the students at KES for raising an incredible amount of money over the last four years. Through this exciting movement-based fundraiser, KES raised $7,470 in 2016, $10,314 in 2017, $16,370 in 2018, and an incredible $18,353 this year, making us the second highest fundraising school in Maine. He also recognized 2nd grader, Skylar Dixon, in particular, for raising more money than any other individual student in the history of the event. Skylar alone raised $4065 dollars for this event this year. This announcement was a real great life example of true “Citizenship”.  Thank you to everyone who helped the children collect donations. Great work KES!

One more reminder about the KEPTA and KES Pasta Dinner to support Honor Flight this coming Wednesday, April 3rd, with seatings at 5:00pm and 6:00pm. Reserve your spot today to attend. Proceeds from this fun event will benefit Honor Flight Maine. The cost to attend is $7 for adults and $3 for children. Enjoy great food for a great cause. If you would like to attend but cannot afford the tickets, please email Mr. Quinn at Confidentiality will be maintained. Otherwise, RSVP for you & your family online...we hope to see you here!

And finally, if you are looking for an entertainment opportunity this evening, come to KES at 6:00pm for a free live performance of “The Wizard of Oz” starring students from Sea Road School. This production has been produced and directed entirely by students from MSK. Enjoy!

Yours in Education,

Mr. Quinn
