Kennebunk High School Principal Susan Cressey is pleased to announce that

Daniel Behrens and Luna Phipps-Costin are National Merit Semi-Finalists.

Over 1.6 million students in more than 22,000 high schools entered the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2016 PSATs.  The 16,000 Semi-Finalists are the highest-scoring entrants in each state and represent less than 1 percent of each state’s high school seniors.  They will continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships to be awarded in the spring of 2018.  

Behrens, the recipient of the Rensselaer Medal,  was previously named an AP Scholar with Distinction and is a member of National Honor Society.  He participates in Model UN, Mock Trial, and Model State and is the captain of the math and tennis teams.  Dan also is on the ski and cross country teams.  The son of Deborah and Jeffrey Behrens of Kennebunk, he is considering a career in engineering.

Phipps-Costin is an AP Scholar and the recipient of the Rensselaer Computing Medal Award.  She is on the Math Team and is a lead programmer for the Robotics Team.  Luna participates in Model UN, Model State, Debate Club, and Jazz Band, as well as Math Team.  As a participant in National Computer Camp, she was recognized for Excellence in Programming and Excellence in Logic.  Luna is the daughter of Rachel Phipps and John Costin of Kennebunk.
