Congratulations to Melissa Luetje - Gulf of Maine Council on the Marine Environment Award

Congratulations to Kennebunk High School Teacher Melissa Luetje for being recognized by the Gulf of Maine Council on the Marine Environment. Melissa was selected to receive a Gulf of Maine Council 2019 Visionary Award. This award is presented annually to an individual or organization within each of the five Gulf of Maine jurisdictions of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia. The Award recognizes innovation, creativity and commitment to marine protection by businesses, environmental organizations, or individuals who are making a difference to the health of the Gulf of Maine. They also recognized Leia Lowery and Pamela Morgan. Each were recognized for the outstanding work on the Gulf of Maine Studies Community Based Stewardship Initiative. The educational collaboration among Kennebunkport Conservation Trust, University of New England, and Kennebunk Regional High School has inspired creation of similar programs in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Nova Scotia. This innovative approach to combining interdisciplinary classroom education with outdoor learning and local environmental stewardship projects is having a lasting positive impact on students throughout the Gulf of Maine. #kennebunkportconservationtrust#gulfofmaine #maine #outdoorlearning#saveouroceans #universityofnewengland#rsu21loveforlearning #massachusetts#novascotia
