RSU 21 Board of Directors Accepts Resignation of Interim Superintendent

For Immediate Release -- September 26, 2019 – Kennebunk, Maine -- The RSU 21 Board of Directors accepts the resignation of interim superintendent Dr. Maryann Perry, acknowledging that the hiring process was incomplete.

In a mutual agreement, Dr. Perry's resignation is effective tomorrow, September 27, 2019. RSU 21 will pay Dr. Perry $8,878 for time worked this month and provide a severance of $13,000, for a total of $21,878.

With a vote of 8-0, the Board members present at today's school board meeting unanimously voted to appoint Dr. Phillip Potenziano, as the interim superintendent of RSU 21 for the remainder of the 2019/2020 school year. Moving forward, the Board is committed to a timely and thorough review of the superintendent hiring process. The Board will document an updated process and share it with the public before starting the search process for a permanent superintendent for the 2020/2021 school year.
