Week of Caring 2021
Our inaugural ‘Week of Caring’ initiative wrapped up on a positive note last week. According to many, it was a great success and truly appreciated by staff.
"What a wonderful week. I really enjoyed all the different activities, both large and small, that were planned for us. The most impactful and meaningful aspect was the gift of time."
"Everything was very thoughtful, from treats to having the central office read to our students."
"The donuts and pizza were fun! Offering free massages also felt extra special.
"I wasn't expecting this, I feel cared for! Thank you for a great week!
The week was set aside to honor our dedicated and incredibly hardworking staff across the district. “It has been such a challenging year for all employees” shared Dr. Cooper, “the leadership team wanted to do a little something extra to show our gratitude to staff.” Food, fun, and taking time to unplug were among the many opportunities made available to employees during the week. Activities varied by location and included, for example, Walls of Gratitude (top picture), yoga, massage, Zen den, strength conditioning, cornhole, pickleball, walking, bowling, raffles, etc. In addition, representatives from MEA Benefits Trust were on hand at each location to share information on RSU 21’s health and wellness programs and options.
THANK YOU TO THE LOCAL BUSINESS THAT PARTICIPATED IN OUR WEEK OF CARING
Turkey Trot 2021
Gobble gobble! Teachers, staff and administrators came together for the first annual Turkey Trot in RSU 21 on Nov. 18. What a fun event! There were seven groups competing in a speed walking relay race. Instead of a baton, each team had a "turkey” to race with and hand off to a colleague. The winning team is Gobblin’ and Hobblin’ from Sea Road School. The Best Turkey Award went to members of the Operations Team from Running Off Sweet Potato Pie, and Central Office administrators from Hens Walkin’ received a Spirit Award from the event judges. Employees attending the event also recognized the importance of giving back to community and made donations to the food pantry at Community Outreach Services in Kennebunk.
