BBABB - STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES TO THE BOARD

The RSU 21 School Board of Directors (Board) supports the inclusion of up to two high school student representatives to the School Board each year. The purpose of these representatives is to provide the Board with student perspectives on board policy and bring policy information back to the student body. Student representative votes are advisory to the Board. The votes of student representatives do not count in determining whether a motion carries or fails. Each student representative shall attend business and workshop meetings of the full Board. Student representatives do not have the right to participate in executive sessions, receive confidential information that is shared with the elected Board members, or participate in negotiations committees.

Each student representative shall serve a one year term. Students may seek nomination for a second consecutive term. The procedures for nomination and selection onto the School Board Committee is outlined in policy BBABB-R.
