EEAEAA - DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING OF SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS AND DRIVERS OF STUDENT TRANSPORTATION VEHICLES
Regional School Unit 21 (RSU 21) is committed to providing a safe, efficient and productive environment for all students and employees. It is the policy of RSU 21 that its employees perform their jobs safely and responsibly. The School Board is committed to the establishment of an alcohol and controlled substance testing program for school bus drivers, in addition to any other employees including school bus aides, who drive district vehicles to transport students.
RSU 21 is also committed to the establishment of an alcohol and controlled substance testing program that meets all relevant requirements of federal and state laws and regulations. The purpose of the testing program shall be to help prevent accidents, injuries and deaths resulting from the misuse of alcohol and controlled substances by any employee transporting RSU 21 students in RSU 21 vehicles. The Superintendent shall be responsible for the implementation of an alcohol and drug testing program consistent with federal regulations and shall implement additional administrative procedures to assist and further the implementation of the federal mandates regarding alcohol and controlled substances testing as he/she deems necessary.
