IKFAA - SPECIAL EDUCATION GRADUATION
It shall be the policy of RSU 21 to make appropriate adaptations of the specific state and local graduation requirements to meet the unique skills and abilities of exceptional students who are between the ages of 15 and 20. The Pupil Evaluation Team (P.E.T.) shall specify those adaptations in the student’s Individualized Education Program (I.E.P.) along with the projected date of graduation.
RSU 21 shall accept the P.E.T. determination of an exceptional student’s graduation requirements as written in the student’s I.E.P. for exceptional students between the ages of 15 and 20 inclusive. RSU 21 shall inform, in writing, and in accordance with Maine Special Education Regulation 10.4, both the parent and, when appropriate, the student, that completion of the student’s I.E.P. and consequent graduation constitutes a termination of eligibility for special education services as outlined in Maine Special Education Regulation 9.4(c).
