Mildred L. Day School held its annual Wellness Day on Wednesday, March 6th. It was a fantastic day filled with many great presenters that touched upon many facets of the 5210 Let’s Go! model that RSU 21 strives to follow. The amazing efforts of the Mildred L. Day Wellness Team came together to create a day that was valuable for students and staff alike. The children learned about healthy and easy snacks created from local produce from farmers who came in from Frinklepod Farm. Students also learned about the 5210 model in a presentation from Kristen Thomas from Southern Maine Health care. Ms. Caroline from the Academy of Dance led a great session on dance and the students were treated to a “sugar session” from Arundel Recreation Director, Jenn Welch, where they learned the deceiving sugar content in many of their favorite drinks. Local parent and hygienist, Stacy West, led a session on dental hygiene and the effects of the sugar on their teeth and the importance of good dental care. Finally, the students were crazy active in a jamming boot camp session led by Jen Small, from Trilogy Multisport Training.
